Notice: I´ve been hesitating if I could include Thick As A Brick Part One, this is not an "opener" in fact. But due to fair play I´ve decided to inclusion of  this one.

Wow-pretty impressive list! Voted Musical Box, one of my all time favorites. Any of these tracks are worthy though.

I'm going with Shine On surprisingly enough.  Great build up, great song, great album.

Even tho I can't seem to get into King Crimson. My vote goes for Schizoid Man. I don't think I've been that amazed by a song in my whole life. The only songs, I can recall being as epic as Schizoid Man on the first listen was: Salisbury by Uriah Heep and Dagobert Ducks 100th Birthday by Guru Guru.

Where is "The Undercover Man"?!  Godbluff is #10 on top PA.

Close to the Edge is excellent, though Tom Sawyer is EXTREMELY close...just saying.

An error of omission as only 20 are listed when it should be 21.

Anyway, I'd still vote for VdGG's "Lemmings", followed by "Larks' Tongues...."

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

I have to go with Schizoid Man. It's such a powerful and surprising beginning to an amazingly classic album. I can still remember when I first bought ITCOTCK and put it on, having no idea what to expect really, and being totally blown away.

I go with Shine On. One of my favourite songs, and as an opening it's just beautiful.

Interesting idea !

With CTTE, there's a bias, but ok.

I deeply apologize for my omitting of Van der Graaf Generator. Trust me please, this wasn´t plan but mistake only. It´s a pity that I cannot correct it!

Crazily enough, I voted for Aristillus.  A little snip of an instrumental, but it always makes my physically shiver with appreciation.

Musical Box IMO is one of the best pieces ever, opener or not, but there were sure a lot of good candidates in this list.

Don't worry about it! I really woulda voted for Undercover Man as it's one of my favorite pieces ever written, but on second thought, I think Larks as an opener is more fitting, I don't know why, maybe it sets the tone better, or maybe it's that weird eeriness that you just can't put your finger on.

Just so we're clear, do you mean "Which of these is the best song" or "Which of these makes the best opener"? Because those are sort of different.

I mean "Which opener from the list is your favourite". Nothing more, nothing less.

Thank you for clearing this up. Smile This was my question, too! So CTTE for me. (And Red is the better opener.)
