Not a difficult choice. The Mars Volta are truly unlistenable, but Porcupine Tree are amongst the better modern bands.

Ah, both are excellent bands. However, I feel that TMV was best in their earlier years, and I like PT's current era the most. PT wins this one. -------------

No contest - TMV are a truly hated band on PA (it's because they're slightly mainstream I think), and also the fact that people apparently can't listen to it ... in the same way that Zeuhl is completely unlistenable. But I think they're genius -------------

porcupine tree's the sonic equivalent of oatmeal whereas the Mars Volta are like some sort of spicy foreign food. I don't think TMV are hated all that much, I think they're a very polarizing band. Love it or hate it, you know? I love them. and these days they soar above PTree for me. I thought there'd be more Mars Volta fans. I voted PT because that's how I roll, but I thought they'd be too simplistic for you lot. MV could be amazing, but they're just too cluttered. They've got a complete dedication to making sure that making sure absolutely every empty space gets filled with some sort of noise. De-Loused is an excellent album marred by stupid noises going on constantly because there's apparently not enough going on already. |

TMV by far! One of my favorit modern bands, PT is the most boring and unintresting of all modern prog bands they bore me to tears and put me to sleep, how something so usles and unintresting and unorginal culd get so popular is a true mystery. -------------

PT: Fine, ok, not bad. TMV: Interesting, annoying, creative, surprising, changing, provoking, brutal, smooth. FANTASTIC.
Regarding the lyrics, sometimes people say TMV i stupid. Im lucky, im not a native, i dont even try to understand.
