Both of these bands are quite different, but they both share the honor of being absolutely amazing progressive metal bands. Both are highly praised on this site, so I'm curious about the result.

maudlin of the Well gets me hard about 40% faster than Agalloch, so they get my vote.

Gonna have to be Agalloch for me. I loved them from the first instant I heard them.

When motW make anything as face melting-ly awesome as Falling Snow, or as frostbitten and grim as The Mantle, give me a call on 555-WHAMBULANCE.

Agalloch, easily. motW is a good band, but Agalloch is great.

Ahm, sh*t.  Whichever one it is, it's by little enough that I need to think about it a bit.

maudlin is an excellent band, but Agalloch is totally above me.
i find their music as a mere expression of all those feelings, emotion and thoughts they superbly express through their songs.

Pieces like In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion, Bloodbirds, or Black Lake Nidstang trascend music, im sure those guys are here to stay, and in some years, people will know them as pioneers of something we are yet to discover.

So, my vote goes for Agalloch

I'm all for Agalloch, but motW is on a whole different level.

No Agalloch or atmospheric black metal band or black metal band or even any metal band can beat a group that recorded Part The Second.

maudlin...., I've yet to find an Agalloch album I'd rate more than 3 stars.

Agalloch. There's something very special in their music ...

Agalloch. There's something special indeed. They're probably my favorite metal band.

motW is good, but I don't ingest it like crack as I do with other Driver projects. If everything was as good as Part the Second this would be much harder.

Yeah... it's that specialness that makes them a winner for me, too. They resonate with me emotionally more than almost anything else.
MotW is also great.
Btw, I prefer Bath/Body Map to PtS, and Kayo Dot to all three.Tongue

Gotta go with Agalloch. I just love their winter-themed, harsh music. MotW are pretty good too though.

Love both to death, but Agalloch since it's getting wintery out, and their music is just special then.

I literally can't answer this....

I can answer this, easily. I really liked The Mantle, but never will they touch the astral immersion of interspersed sharp brutality and trembling quiescence. If I want a musical journey, I put on Bath/Body Map. 'Nuff said.

Neither are bands I generally listen to, but my preference is MOTW.

Agalloch. I always thought the distorted vocals in motW really brought down the quality of the music. I'm still a fan, but not as much as Agalloch.

I made this poll a long time ago. I wasn't sure then, but now I know that I definitely prefer Agalloch.
