Hi everyone! I'm listening to Diafanes, a brazilian band that mixes alternative rock with ethnic music. That made me want to hear Alt. Rock again, like Bush, for example (excellent guitarist!) giving a break in prog for a while. But now I want to get back progging! Do you know any prog or prog-related bands that mix Noise-Rock, noise guitar and actual prog?? OK, I know post-rock and math rock, like Godspeed you BlaCK Emperror and Sigur Ross, But I'm seraching for something with a little more care about rythimics, I love irregular tempos... Can You Help me??

Get Glenn Branca's The Ascension. It's an amazing mix of Neu! and GY!BE.
Also, do you know The Mars Volta? I would expect so.

The Boredoms, Melvins and Einstürzende Neubauten were the first bands that popped into my head.

Yes, that's where GY!BE got it from... Glad you like it.
It's like Sonic Youth, but progressive.

Swans' Soundtracks for the Blind. Not necessarily prog rock, but very unconventional.

I love it when people imply/assume that an entire forum has some kind of hive mind/consensus of opinion despite the evidence of a thousand petty arguments continually raging over whether X is better than Y and why don't more people love Z.
And by "love" I mean "can't f**king stand", obviously.
As for recommendations for the OP, I'll second Boredoms and also mention Lighting Bolt and Melt-Banana. None of them are "prog" as such, but they are all much more energetic/rhythmically complex than the post-rock crowd.
Oh, and Hella! You should definitely check out Hella.

Most of the arguments I observe on this forum tend to be very one sided, one dissenter vs a lot of people. It's definitely nothing unique to this forum.

Somebody looking for noise is not going to be a stereotypical symph fan, I have no idea what battle you are trying to fight here.
Hella are pretty great, although they're not really that noisy on their most well known albums. I think some of the EPs get more noisy. I'm not really into noise rock anymore I can't remember anything else.

Let me explain something to you all... as a musician, I'm never "adept" to a style, I understand each genre as a pack of elements, that can be used freely in order to make great compositions. By saying that I mean I'm not a "symph" fan, or a noise rock fan, but I love these elements and think it would be great to have them in my compositions.

You might like the Perseverance Suite off my Cartoon Wheel CD. It's free at the Regenerative Music link below. I was a progger as an early teen (even before that). I met the Industrial Music circle here in Seattle in 1983 and was influenced by that.
