Crime is a consistently brilliant album, whereas Night is, IMO, very patchy.

wierd that Supertramp started one year earlier then Queen yet Queen managed 3 albums before A Night at the Opera, while Supertramp had two albums out at the start of the decade, and 2 year shaking of their fethers before getting in studio i 73 and produced Crime of the Century...- .,

As an sound engineer and from a technical point of view I have say that the Queen album reins supreme, but as a producer I have to say that Supertramp has some very strong songs and a more consistent album over all. From a prog lovers view my final vote goes to QUEEN by a short curly one.

Thank you for supporting independently produced music

I agree on some level that there are a few lesser quality songs on NATO...but stuff like "The Prophet's Song" more than makes up for them and is better than anything on Crime..in my opinion of course.  My vote is obvious!!!  Long live the Queen.

Easy - I hate Queen......dreadful band, so Supertramp for me!

I'm going to sit on the fence and declare it a dead heat. Not that I'd listen to both of them at once, that'd be weird. (Hide In Your Two Legs? I'm In Love With My School? Crime of the Rhapsody? Too much!)

A Night at the Opera. I have heard Crime of the Century too often during the mid-70's and I got sort of fed up with it. Nevertheless, both albums are in fact about equally good, with A Night at the Opera having the higher ups and the deeper downs and I prefer it slightly for these ups.

Crime is Supertramp's best album by a fair way, but it's not consistently excellent.

A Night at the Opera isn't Queen's best album (Sheer Heart Attack is) but it just gets my vote.

Queen for me, easily one of the best albums ever, I love its variety, not to mention over half of the songs are classic. Crime is good too, probably the best album by Supertramp but definitely not the same league...

Queen by far. Not as far as some might think, but far enough to count. It's one of the only Queen albums I'd consider to be wholeheartedly 'great'.

Both excellent albums. Both 5 star albums in my book. But I think Night at the Opera is more multi-faceted and a defining album for the era.

Always thought that Night At the Opera was a bit overrated (Day At The Races is better IMO) whereas Crime Of The Century is a consistently great album.

A Night at the Opera.

I quite like Crime of the Century. Three stars. It's nothing special imo.

A Night in Opera is revolutionary album and Crime of the Century is just quite an average imo. I like some of Hodgson's music very much though.

It's hard for me to vote against ANatO, but Crime of the Century is Crime of the Century. Probably the best two crossover albums ever.

I never got heavily into Supertramp. And despite hating "I'm in love with my Car" I'll go with queen, because the side B of A Night at the Opera is flawless

Update:

I've been listening to Crime a lot in the last year, and I've done an about turn and now consider it better than NATO...

Although there are a few songs on NATO that may trump most of COTS, the latter is indeed consistently very good from start to finish. Asylum is brilliant.

Crime of the Century is great but I go with ANATO. Bohemian Rhapsody, 39', Death on two Legs, The Prophet's Song, I'm in Love with my Car, etc. It's one of the greatest albums of all time. That said I prefer Queen II over it.

Both. I know Night at the opera more and for longer but both are fine albums with only fine numbers throughout. Unless you don't like either band sitting down to both is just fine.

School, Crime, Rhapsody, Prophet's Song.... all good company in the asylum.

I wish Crime of the Century was put on stage as an opera, musical or a movie.

I love Queen and that album, especially "Death on Two Legs" but I have to go with Crime of the Century.

Two bands that never made much impact on me.....I suppose Crime simply because Freddie Mercury's overly campy theatrics always irritated me.
