I haven't been excited for a movie this much since Inglourious Basterds. I love Alien. This just looks superb in every sense.

The trailer is visually stunning. I hope the plot won't disappoint.

looks promising,

who is best director in your books, Ridley Scott or James Cameron??

both have made their mark on movie world with vissual stunning album, both are found of qleeshes, both also know how to make epics EPIC, and large as it is the easyest in the world, and both i think caryes the torch of David Lean in many ways,

I thik Gladiator is one of the best movies ever, and a very important movie, one say that Fellowship of the Ring was revolutionary when it come to battle scenes and scenery, well Gladiator stunned the world first and everyone made fight sceans EXACTLY like Gladiator afterwords, IMO,

^ One's Alien movie was almost the only good thing he ever did. The other still gets credit for doing the original Alien.

I'd say Ridley Scott.

Only one good movie Rico? He did Alien and Bladerunner. Directing two of the top 5 sci-fi films of all time ain't bad.

Cameron had Terminator 1. That fails to compare to either of Ridley's two good films.

I didn't say Scott was the one with the only good movie. ;)

Ah I see that you meant a Alien franchise movie and not the movie Alien. Well done sir.

^ Is that Scott-hater friend of yours looking forward to this one or did he throw his hands in the air saying "not a bloody Alien prequel godno"? Tongue

I'm excited about The Dark Knight Rises but generally I don't geared up over movie releases.  Prometheus does look interesting, though.

I didn't even know about it until saw this topic, but I'm looking forward to this one now after watching the trailer on youtube.  I loved the first Alien film (my favourite of the franchise).  I probably will go see it in 3D in the theatre.

Haven't seen that one. I wonder why they had to say "the director of Gladiator" instead of "that guy who made Alien in the first place", since we're talking so much about the possible links.

I've been interested in this for a while now, but that trailer realing raises my hopes a fair bit.

I noticed that, strange the didn't say from the director of Alien, then mention Blade Runner, and then mention Gladiator if they're going to mention those other films.  Maybe they didn't want to make it too obvious from the trailer that Prometheus is part of the Alien franchise.

Most likely because they want to target an even larger market than that of Alien faithfuls. I'm sure Gladiator is much more well known than Alien, and it was after all done in the late '70s, which is more or less the same as the age of silent film for many of the people I've talked with about film (and for whom films from the '90s are "old").

But they mentioned Blade Runner first and then Gladiator, so it does seem strange not to mention Alien as well, which is why, perhaps, I think that they have deliberately not mentioned Alien because they didn't want to immediately tip the hat off to it being an Alien film (to build some excitement later as they gave more of it away, avoid spoilers, or other reasons which involves wanting to distance themselves a bit from the franchise at first).  The Alien franchise has been going for many years, and I think would be really well known to a  lot of the audience who would see Prometheus.

Blade Runner didn't come out that many years after Alien (but three years), but they mentioned Blade Runner before Gladiator (Blade Runner is a more respected film than Alien I would say, mind you).

From what I've read it does look like Scott and Co. are doing their best to avoid the question of whether it's an Alien prequal or not, despite the seemingly heavy connection between them.

What I'm really excited for is it's exploring the origin of the space jockey from the first alien and perhaps ties into the creation of the xenomorph. Yeah the graphics and effects have been stated to be quite incredible. I'm so pumped!

I would have liked it better if it hadn't had so many annoying characters in it.

Which is why I prefer the first one where the only annoying character is Sigourney Weaver.

I'm quite disturbed by the fact that some people seem to believe that this movie will have a plot.

Come on, it's 2012.

Well, I'm gonna watch this film. After Fincher's Girl with a Dragon Tattoo I can honestly say that this is a good year for movies.

What's a Tarantino rip-off?
