Have to go with Obscured by Clouds since I only know that one and Voyager 34 and the latter isn't to my tastes.

Thinking Plague - probably album of the year for me & I've seen them perform significant chunks of it twice.

I've ordered Shekina for xmas so I'll delay voting til I've heard it. But of the other ones, right now it's looking to be Pinhas, PT, and Ozrics as my tops (Of the ones I"ve heard)

Think I'll have to sleep on it. I loooove Obscured by Clouds and I find it to be grossly overlooked, yet I don't think it needs my vote in this poll....

May just have to vote for one of the odd curiosities inside the big sprawling Krautrock world. That Popol Vuh album is a real treat, and it is one of the only symphonic Kraut albums I've ever come across.

I also very much enjoy what just might be The Ozrics most progressive outing.

I don't have that Seffer one, but I've got his IMA which is just breathtaking. Thanks for reminding me about him John.

Like I said, I think I'll sleep on this...

I'm giving my vote to Jannick Top.  I haven't listened to it in a while, but I enjoy it a lot.  I actually know almost all of these albums too, quite a departure for me.   I even have that Yoch'kp Seffer album.  And I have a high regard for that new Thinking Plague album.  But I feel like shooting for the Top tonight.  Take me to the Top!

Cool to see you and Holy Moly pick Top here. I love both of his solo albums and this one is excellent. On "De Futura"  he has Richard Pinhas on guitar which is amazing. But my favourite might be the intense "Mekanik Machine" with the MAGMA boys helping out including Christian Vander, Klaus Blasquisz, Claude Olmos and Patrick Gauthier. I'll have a hard time not picking this one.

Let's call that a short nap...

I decided to go for Popol Vuh. Maybe it's just my mood lately, but I find so much 'meaning' in these albums. I also used to paint and draw a lot to this one.

Ahhh from "Wots...Uh The Deal".  Man i love the mood and sound of that record. There's a couple of albums on this list i like more but i am a huge fan of this one.
Oh and thanks Scott for voting. What the heck happened to the Lions this year. They sure have some very high end pieces but obviously need help in places.

I'm glad you mentioned that Pinhas album as we get quite a few talented members helping him out here. Patrick Gauthier, Bernard Paganotti, J. Philippe Goude and Francois Auger. Great album and especially the track "Dedicated To K.C." which sounds more like BI KYO RAN than KING CRIMSON.Big smile

And ZAO's "Shekina" is their third studio album where they brough in that female string quartet who also play on the Seffer album "Gilghoul" i have listed in this poll. Troung's drumming on this ZAO album blows me away and this is a top three for me in this poll along with Top and Seffer's albums.

The more I think of it, the more I think that that Pinhas album is my favorite of his solo works (that I've heard). The only one that approaches it is Metatron.

And yes...the samples I heard had some standout drumming which is what made me want the album.

Merry Christmas buddy!

Alittle bit more appreciation to Richard Pinhas here. Although electronic music is not my cup of whiskey and I usually get bored, there is something about Pinhas that does click with me deeply, whether if it's Heldon or his solo stuff. And as you maybe already noticed I'm a huge fan of the Weidorje crew where ever they go, so this is an easy one. Along with Heldon this would be a good place to start with prog electronic (says the one who doesn't like prog electronic Ermm...), it's not that ambienty stuff, this one is more accessible.

I personally enjoy earlier PT much more than their later stuff (Up the Downstair/Staircase Infinities in particular).  I would go with Voyage on this one.  But in order to enjoy it, you have to realize that Wilson is/was a huge Floyd fan, and was influenced in a big way by them at this period of his career.  And he did not try to hide it on Voyage.  If you enjoyed the Wall as much as I did, Voyage is a more psychedelic version of the Wall (yes, its possible).  If you approach it this way it might be very enjoyable, on the right evening with good lighting Wink

I gave Seffer my vote. A very Zeuhlish record with the bass player from Zao(Bertand) and Laizeau on drums and he's played with Magma, Offering and that "Paga" album by Paganotti.
