I prefer the original, but I also love the version on THE DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER (a better live album than PULSE, in my opinion). But after that, the question needs to be asked: 8 live versions of "CN"?!?! Isn't that a bit *nutty*?

The Wall version, because Roger Waters.

Studio version. TBH I never really listen to live Floyd stuff unless it's earlier on in their career. Never got that excited about things like Delicate Sound of Thunder, Is There Anybody Out There, Pulse, etc...

The studio version for me. The solos on the live versions tend to needlessly go on forever.

The Delicate Sound of Thunder version for me, though I do miss Waters singing a bit; on the other side, that beginning is much stronger, and the final solo, well after this version the original one just sounds incomplete, I need to hear those extra minutes as Gilmour played them here. The Pulse version is a bit weaker. The Gdansk version is very nice too, with the orchestra and all, and an even longer solo at the end (though the Delicate one is long enough for me), and having Wright singing Waters parts fits just perfectly. As for Waters, well I don't like his versions so much (they don't have the Gilmour extended solo, though the guitar player added some bits of his own that are interesting to listen to), however, I found it interesting that on the new Wall tour Waters has been doing, Dave Kilminster played the solo in a very similar way to Gilmour on Delicate Sound, which was a pretty nice surprise when I saw the show. I wonder how many people noticed that.

Studio, of course. Waters made a great addition, and Gilmour balanced it all out. The live performance of CN on the solo Waters tour with The Wall was very, very excellent as well, but it hasn't been released outside of bootlegs. Shameful.

Once again I've screwed my own poll. Bloody hell. What about that Van Morrison version on Waters' THE WALL: LIVE IN BERLIN? The Sopranos helped make that one a classic... sigh...

This song is unbelievable so picking the best version is tough to pick. Voted for The Wall version, but the Delicate Sound of Thunder version is very close.

The second solo played by Australian Pink Floyd on DVD is at the level of the best Gilmour. I've been really impressed by the Floyd live execution in Rome during the 1986 tour, but the best version is for me the one on Gdansk . Not the best, just my fav.

I'm sure he's not. It's the best non-Floyd related version I've heard so far, and surely beats many on this list.

Absolutely not!
It blows every other version I've heard out of sight.

Apart of Julia Dream I have found "Pink Floyd Revisited" so poor that probably I haven't given enough attention to Comfortably Numb. I'm about to give it a spin. The problem is Bryan's vocals. Nothing to say about his guitar, instead.

If I was able to vote on it, I would have voted for the Wall version, however, the Is There Anybody Out There? version is just as good.

Bryan Josh's vocals are a matter of taste, but Heather Findlay compensates any time. Their version of Echoes is also stunning, though not quite as good as Floyd's.

The original of course, but I also really enjoyed the Gilmour-Bowie version.

I've relistened to it and my opinion doesn't change. I really don't like that version even with Heather singing.

I voted other: Billy Sherwood and Chris Squire, with Sherwood singing the verses and Squire on the chorus. Great guitar and drum work, and even a mandolin interlude.

I too love the Mostly Autumn version, but not as much as the original, which still blows my mind away.

Yeah, it's a nice version, with a few added elements that sound nice. But I still think the guitar falls short of Gilmour... I'm guessing it's Sherwood playing it.
