What a fantastic scenery and music!!!...these guys were the most original band I've heard during my .XX.something years of Prog!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!..CHECK THIS DVD AND YOU WILL HALLUCINATE!!! |
First, the drummer must be one of the best Prog drummers ever. The lyrics were originally written by Chile Nobel Prize Pablo Neruda, the mix between Andes music and Rock is gorgeous, and finally, this is the only place where you will be able to listen La Poderosa Muerte

the sad thing that the moog actually was not plugged in, due to the fact, that the noise might be detrimental to ancient buildings of Macchu Picchu - nevertheless it is a true gem, which can be compared only to Pink Floyd At Pompeii. Also memorable fact about Los Jaivas is that they were political exiles from Pinochetian Chile, which really shows progressive spirit, means that our beloved music is about something really important, and not just escapism. ------------- yet you still have time! |

I remember the first time Los Jaivas played here in Lima Perú, it was probably in late 80 or 81..was just a child but I was glad to discover such a great band, their exile condition in France where they flew after the fascists took power in Chile was something that I became very interested (there was lots of interviews) and in a way helped me to learn and read bout not only my country political situation but South America's and then the world's..can recall how they recorded that TV documentary in Macchu Picchu that had a lot of airplay in the government's channel..the drummer was excellent
..sad he died in a car accident some years later while touring here in Perú again..  for them
