Since i am a Deep Purple and Captain Beyond fan i've always wondered what became of lead singer Rod Evans.I have read crazy stuff like he's been spotted as a gas station attendant.Read on line that he has been or still is a paramedic.Even read once he might even be a Doctor practising medicine.
I do know he attempted a revival of his version of Deep Purple in the early 80's,toured some and then got sued by Blackmore & company which i thought was appaling on their part to do Rod like that.
His whereabouts are always listed as "Unknown"
Just wondering if anyone on here knows anything about him or has heard of any recent reports of Rod Evans sightings?

I understand that he has no interest in courting any publicity or musical appearances. Whilst he has not "disappeared", nor has he "done a Sid Barrett", it is clear that the man simply wishes to be left alone to lead a "normal" life.

I respect his privacy-its just a shame no more music came with him involved,he had such a great voice for rock.

I loved his singing on the early DP albums.
Sounds like he's in the rock and roll witness protection plan!
Too bad he gave up since he did have a great voice.

While there's no way he would have fit later works like In Rock, he had a good voice for the early albums. A shame about the lawsuits in the '80s. I wish him luck in whatever endeavors he's pursuing.

He looks at this world and wants it all... so he strikes, like Thunderball!

Great voice and he was excellent on the Captain Beyond lp's especially the first one, and frankly I like that album better than most of the Deep Purple albums.

This is the same question I ask of Nick Greenwood ......
Whatever happened to such a tremendous bassist/vocalist who disappeared after such albums as Crazy Workd Of Arthur Brown, Space Shanty and his one and only solo release Cold Cuts ???? Perhaps they just want to distance themselves from the whole ' classic rock bizz' that goes with all our precious music of yesteryear ????
