For me, Relayer is above all, so an initial vote go for Relayer.

Tormato is in that list but Fragile isn't?
Anyway, I vote TFTO just so it will get at least 1 vote (for me that one's right up there with CttE)

For me it's of course CTTE, but I can't see Going for the One with no votes, so I give it the first.

Top 5:
The yes album
Fragile
Close to the edge
Time and a word-including Dear father
Tormato
Relayer is only half an album. Sound chaser sounds stupid after a couple of minutes
------------- All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

To be honest the only track from Relayer that I really care for is To Be Over, the rest I can live without them. On the other hand the track And You And Ikeeps being for decades maybe my fave from Yes, but lately I happened to know that stunning Organ passage in the track Close To The Edge - but the whole track is really a must having from Yes songs!
From TFTO I also can live without the second and the third tracks, but the first and the last are really beautiful, even though there are some passages from them that cuts in someway my good impressions.
Going for the One I found it sometimes boring (the first track) and sometimes repetitive (the second track, even though I like the melody). From Parallels I enjoyed the genuine organ melodic sound with a good rythm, but it bores me after some listenings. Awaken has the magic touch of Wakeman's keyboards, really stunning, but maybe my fave is Wonderous Stories, it seems more a Jon and Vangelis music than properly from Yes, it is indeed a very beutiful melody for me.
My vote goes obviously for CTTE.

Close To The Edge for me.
It does blow my mind how many people like Relayer over Going For The One though. Relayer is a really flawed album while Going For The One is the greatest album they ever did post-Bruford.

I'm not sure about Going for the One being better than Relayer. Both albums have a wonderful epic, though Awaken is a bit shorter (I like much better the live version from Keys to Ascension). Going for the One does have Turn of the Century too, which is lovely. But I don't really like so much any other song from either album, so I would say both are kind of flawed. To be Over could have been a much more lovely song, but for me it's a bit over-long. If it was shorter and more acoustic guitar based I would have loved it (such as Howe's solo versions of the song that I like better). Sound Chaser is a bit too noisy, but it's got some beautiful moments, and it could have been better if Anderson had refrained himself from those Cha Cha Cha moments.

Relayer was an album with guts and it also shows that Yes were prepared to push themselves into areas that may have made even themselves a little uncomfortable. GFTO was back to the typical Yes sound , very safe and not very progressive imo. It was almost an admission that there was nothing else to say musically other than to try and perfect what they had already achieved. Turn Of The Century is very beautiful and Wakeman plays some great pipe organ and throws in a choir for good measure on Awaken. Yep its good but nothing that screams 'new' or truly 'progressive'. Drama for me was a much better album and I would argue was their best album post Bruford.

As GFTO is my favourite album of them all (by anybody) it gets my vote here.
It was an absolute pleasure to hear it performed in it's entirety by the band on their UK tour recently (along with The Yes Album and CTTE).

Tormato...seriously...? There's no accounting for taste.
The ones to own are Yes Album, Fragile, CTTE, TFTO, Relayer, and Going For The One......after that why really bother?

Actually, for me, besides Fragile and CttE, there's no perfect Yes album, they all have songs that I just don't enjoy so much. However most of their albums also have a few really wonderful songs that I wouldn't do without. Tormato is perhaps one of the weakest ones, in which even the few songs that I sort of like end up being weak compared to songs from other albums.

I think quite a few people feel that way about the Yes albums but for me there isn't a song on those I named that I don't like though I like some better than others ...of course.

Of these, I had to choose Going For The One, thanks to "Awaken," but I used to favor Relayer because of "The Gates of Delirium" (and "Sound Chaser"). Tales also contains my favorite Yes epic, "The Revealing Science of God." Close To The Edge is a classic and a trendsetter, but not my favorite. Tormato is... Rather forgettable, though I do like "Future Times/Rejoice."

Believe it or not, regarding Tormato, as aproblemI see only that mediocreand, say, "anti-Roger Dean" album jacket. Of course, that's the same thing with Going For The One.
