Superfluous Motor here!

I'm a Keys player the only member of Superfluous Motor. I've have been making music for the last five years or so, .

Superfluous Motor is an Experimental/Instrumental Progressive Rock/Funk/Jazz/Fusion/Something project that I currently work on just for fun in my spare time.

I just recently released a new album that I've spent the last 8 Months or so working on. It tells a story of a man who is Shipwrecked and washed ashore. Each track title gives a hint at what is happening in the story. The album is entirely instrumental and I was hoping to tell a story with the music, it doesn't always work out, but the vagueness of it hopefully allows the listener to craft their own story of what the protagonist is experiencing. The styles range from Psychedelic to Fusion/Jazz/Funk to Progressive Rock. There are some Latin inspired parts in there too for good measure. Each track sort of segues into the next so if played front to back it plays as a single long track. My main inspirations for Shipwrecked were the albums Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull and De-Loused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta. Although I'm nowhere close to being as good as my inspirations on a songwriting and technical level. They certainly helped me form some ideas and concepts.

Anyway here are some of my albums available:

There is also some stuff on my https://soundcloud.com/superfluous-motor" rel="nofollow - SoundCloud page as well.

Now I jump around in terms of style and genre, so not everything I make is Prog, but hopefully it's different enough that it can find a place here at ProgArchives. I always have a really hard time determining what Genre my music is.

Either way I hope someone enjoys it!

At first glance it sounds closer to the kind of funk that isn't in our JR/F genre much, but it sounds interesting, we'll check it out. Thanks.

Awesome!

Thank you so much.

I do jump around different styles and genres quite a bit. The most Prog Rock I've ever gone was on The Floating Orange Incident. Alternatively Shipwrecked is probably the most expansive, experimental/avant-garde album I've done so far. In terms of genre, It's all over the place and I apologize for that.

But I really do hope you enjoy it!

That's great news!! Thank you so much!

Sorry for the delay. Here are a couple bios.

Short one:

"Superfluous Motor is an Experimental/Instrumental Progressive Rock/Funk/Jazz/Fusion/Something one man project."

Long one:

"Superfluous Motor is just a project started in 2012 by Greg Chambers. Greg is not a people person, by doing everything himself he can stick to his introverted ways whilst creating the music he wants to make. Superfluous Motor is not marketable, it's not commercial, and it sure is heck isn't enjoyable listening for everyone, but it is kind of sort of different from other things that are out there today."
