Two of the weirdest singles to ever come from a prog artist, and both incredibly silly. Which is better?

Both are pretty terrible, but just about Bowie for me

Always enjoyed Laughing Gnome. Infact I love most of the early Bowie 45's. Little Bombardier, Rubber Band, Love You Till Tuesday, Maid of Bond Street... I prefer tham all to anything on well... Young Americans

Have to go for Bowie - at least the metrognome joke gave me a small chuckle. Wakeman's effort is just pants.

The funny part is I almost made this a fairy themed poll, which would have included that song, the two songs that made it to this poll, "The Gnome" (Pink Floyd), "Jack-In-The-Green", "Mayhem Maybe" (Jethro Tull), 'The Pot-Head Pixies" (Gong), "The Fairy-Fellers Master Stroke" (Queen) and possibly "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" (The Beatles) and "The Lamia" or "The Fountain Of Salmacis" (Genesis), though I'm not sure if Lucy, lamias or nymphs count as fairies.

Maybe one of these days, I'll redo it with those songs.
