" User Friendly"- that is how I best describe Pieces of Eight. This is by no means Styx's best effort but the album has some certain appeal. Is it prog? Definitely not being more AOR than Kansas at their most commercial but needless to say there are some great tracks on here like " Queen Of Spades", and the title track.As musicians at this point I would call them all very " able" but noone really stood out for me. Everyone supplies vocals to a good album at best. Not a bad album to start with if you are new to Styx as 1978 was their watershed year.
