5 stars "We may not have an equality of talent. We may not have an equality of experience. But we may be equal in aspiration. We can be equal in commitment."- R. Fripp

"Arny's Shack, Poole, Dorset, United Kingdom January 1, 1980" a 2 tracks Robert Fripp's involuntary EP has its unavoidable "obscure gem" history to add up to its, as such, high value.

As copied & pasted from Fripp's dgmlive site comments.- "With backing loops recorded sometime during his Frippertronics tour of 1979, Fripp went back into the studio in the 80s to lay down some truly inspired soloing. However, we don't know exactly when - the best guess being sometime between 1980 and 1983. Perhaps the second track is the one donated to the British Deaf Association's fund-raising album, "Sometimes A Great Notion" released in 1984?"

No one is sure but that, as I mentioned, just adds up bonus value.

Frippertronics, which had the fortune to tag along more time in their owners hands, therefore providing the time for second listenings, second impressions, meaning more time to work with before departing to their unspecified clearly destinations.

Two, 5 +- minute each, amazing in high spirits, rich in composition, totally focused, creatively constructed and flawless, Frippertronics. 5 stars each.

I do agree, that it is impossible to rate fairly EPs, opposite to lengthier releases. 11 minutes of flawless music are uncomparable to 60 minutes of the same. On the other hand those 11 are better than any 100 or more minutes of mediocre music or its combination, which requires some personal reviewer's method to rate accordingly, but useless in the whole PA's rating universe. A tough decision on how to rate.

Therefore I will stick to PA's suggestion on rating without time length consideration.

*****5 "full" PA's EP stars.

pd- A 1 to 2 dollars investment you would not regret investing in!
