4 stars It must be the vocals. Despite not being too original in sound and scope, I really enjoyed this album. It is so nice and pretty! I can describe this as Gregor Samsa meets Explosions in the Sky with the vocal emphasis of Sigur Ros (note: they don't sound like Sigur's vocals). The music always has a very positive air about it, and it's possibly because of the band's faith. As their name implies, Immanu El is a Christian group. Fear not those who are intolerant of, embarrased by, or whatever reason you may be wary of Christian music, because the faith aspect here only affects the atmosphere. And besides, it's nice to have another band on the happier side of things. The album deserves about 3.5 stars: there isn't a lot of variety here, and it won't be heralded as a masterpiece (though they might be able to pull one off in a short while), but it is overall a very enjoyable, relaxing album.
