5 stars If I claimed Sea Shanties to be an essential prog album and that HIGH TIDE's second, self titled, album was even slightly better than it must be beyond essential. It is an abomination that this band isn't more well known. They brought with them a sheer force of musical power nearly unheard of at the time and are granted little to no respect for it. Track this album down, track Sea Shanties down, if you have even the tiniest shred of love for the heavier side of music at all. In the heavy prog genre these albums stand alone, and as hard rock albums they rise above the hights of ZEPPELIN into early SABBATH territory and I'd pit the song Blankman Cries Again against any hard rock song you could throw out there.
