3 stars My first viewing experience: Utter disgust and shock. My second viewing experience: Decently entertained. My Third viewing experience: The pitiful beauty of the album is finally found and appreciated.

Roger Waters was not altogether satisfied with the final result of this film for two main reasons: There was no comedy (he found that humour is what kept him alive) and there was very, little sympathy for the main character. I agree profoundly. Those two reasons (in addition to being relatively disturbing) have restricted this piece of emotional excellence from received a higher rating.

However, the concept of the album is so incredibly layered, that it is unquestionable whether or not this film and album were important pieces of music. They perfectly illustrate the cynical, dry, twisted fury that lingers within all of us, and presents it in an altogether pitifully romantic fashion, with a very violent sense of insanity. Disturbing, disgusting, daunting and dirty, Pink Floyd's the wall is an utterly exposed piece of human emotion, a brutally honest ode to loneliness, despair, jealousy, lust, and boredom. There's bound to be one topic touched here that will touch you personally: and ten more that will make you cringe.

Still, oddly enough, this album and film have a profound ability to raise one's spirits. It is an utterly disapointing, directionless at times, and scarring piece of material with the strange capability of erasing the sorrow of a broken relationship, or distracting one from the worries of the day. With an artistic touch, and some very creepy cartoon-ish animation to go along, the story of Pink the rock musician will remain with you.
