Scaphoid biography
Originally, multi-instrumentalist Matt HOBART participated in several metal bands in the Phoenix, AZ area, but he later relocated to Austin, Texas where he started his new project SCAPHOID as a means to concentrate on an atmospheric approach to progressive metal. In 2016, he released his debut EP "Dies Mercurii" and on October 9, 2020, the project released the full-length album "Absent Passages".

SCAPHOID plays a melodic, atmospheric and dynamic instrumental metal that explores other sub-genres like post metal, space and psychedelic rock, djent and so on. The project strives to explore the musical spaces between his many influences which include OPETH, PORCUPINE TREE, LEPROUS, MESHUGGAH, PINK FLOYD, Steven WILSON and CORROSION OF CONFORMITY.
