3 stars As there is not very much information in the web about Ekseption, it is not easy to know the exact release dates from some of their releases, but it seems that this single was released just before the release of their "Bingo" album in 1974, their first album which was recorded without keyboard player Rick van der Linden and with new keyboard player Hans Jansen. The change in keyboard player became a very important factor in the sound of the band, and they even released that album with a "New Formula" tag in their logo of their name in the cover. But this single shows those changes, as "Persian Market", only originally released in this single (but not on the "Bingo" album) and later in some compilation albums, is still a cover of a classical music piece composed by Ketelbey, but this time was not arranged by van der Linden, but by Jan Vennik, Rein van der Broek and Hans Jansen. It still has some similarities to the "old" sound of the band with van der Linden, and it still sounds like it was recorded with him.

In comparison, the B-side called "Bingo Bingo" (which was also released in the "Bingo" album and was composed by Hansen and Vennik) shows clearly the "New Formula" musical approach of the band, the new sound which consisted of Jazz-Rock and Progressive Rock influences, and the influence of the new keyboard player who used a Fender Rhodes Piano and a monophonic synthesiser in a way that van der Linden never used them. Despite the changes, the band still sounded very well but they were distancing from the original sound of the band on which van der Linden was a very important factor as main composer and arranger when he was in the band.
