4 stars Light from Holland (not to be confused with other countless bands with same name) was formed around 1985-86 and had one single album released at excellent dutch label SI Music in 1995 selftitled. Not very inspired when they've choose their name both band and album, but the music is truly great with many memorable passages. Musicaly they fit with one leg in neo prog with other in symphonic prog, but overall with a more edgy sound then usual neo prog bands from the early to mid '90's, similar with another dutch band from that period named Bagheera, or with italians Aufklarung. Vocal lines are more then decent, fiting very well into this type of music, the instrumental parts are the cherry on the cake, really great passages. Complicated type of neo prog with lots of changes in tempo, with lenghty pieces one of them clocking around 21 min named Dreams is really something worth to hear, another highlights are opening Following Eyes, Elephants on Tightrope and the instrumental one. All in all forgotten and unkown band, this only album is more then ok with nice inventive arrangements and tight musicianship all over. They disbanded (but never officialy) few years after the release and gone into oblivion after SI Music went bankrupt around that period. To me a very nice dicovery 8 years ago, still love them great deal after all these years.4 stars for sure, worthy obscurity from dutch prog school. Very nice art work.
