QUADROPHENIA

This is definately THE BEST WHO ALBUM!!! It is also one of the best concept albums the world has ever seen. Pete Townsend really shines on this absolute masterpiece. After the quiet opening I Am The Sea, we get hit full force by the very first track. The Real Me is a perfect example of The Who at their best. Quadrophenia (the song) is a perfect example of why The Who belongs on this site. It is a brilliant attempt of portraying the main characters 4 schiztophrenic personalities in musical form. Cut My Hair is another excellent song that moves the story along perfect, showing that the main character does not think for himself, just follows other people. Te Punk and the Godfather is a great song that again, just furthers the album along. By this point in the album you really realize how great this album really is. I'm One is a mellower song in which the narrorator reminds himself that although he has these four parts of him, he is still really one person. Dirty Jobs is another good song, as all the songs on the album seem to be. Just bread and butter done right. Helpless Dancer is another masterpiece. Another highlight of the album in my opinion. The album continues with good songs until the great Side 1 (I guess side two if it's an album, I only have the CD) 5:15. What a great ender! After another quick opener in the Sea And Sand, we get to Bell Boy, in which the narrorator meets someone he followed (and is still follwing at heart) and sees that that person no longer stands for the same things. The Rock is a cool song and leads nicely to one of the best album closers of all time: Love Reign Over Me. This is one of those songs that even though it clocks in at 5:48, it just feels epic. This is one of the first GREAT concept albums. I find it to be on a whole other level from Tommy. Pete Townsend really figured out how to write albums by this point.
