3 stars One of the more little known WHO albums from the 70's this one. Many more casual fans, dont even know about this one. Following the 3 hugely succesful studio albums, expectations were probably high and the pressure on to produce a mastepiece. Sadly this one just didnt follow suit. Townsend has always admitted he has had difficulty in just doing 'an album full of songs' which could be why this is not what you'd call a standout album.

This is by no means a bad record, it just simply lacks the excitement, thrills and sheer power that previous offerings gave us. One or 2 tracks are positively irritating. Squeeze Box being one of them, issued as a single at the time so it always finds it's way on the compilation albums, which is annoying.

The rest of the tracks do not reach heights of anything more than above average I'm afraid. Nothing that stirs the emotions like Wont Get Fooled Again and The Real Me does. Having said that, wouldn't dream of giving it anything less than 3 stars. I mean come on, it's THE WHO!!
