White Shadow
4 stars it's been ten years since his last solo studio album and boy was it worth the wait. It is totally different from anything he has done before. Once again, Peter just changes directions, keeping his fans guessing where he's going. His voice is darker, he's older, he's balder, and he's filled out a bit (sorry, Pete, just driving the point home of how much you've changed, no offense), but the music has not lost a step in quality. He's still got that great subtle percussion going here. It is in some ways a more simple album than his other ones, in that much of it relies on subtleties and his voice, rather than many instruments and melodies. It's very mood driven. " I Grieve" is possibly his most emotional composition and one of his best a long, long time. It's not hard to figure out what it's about. It deals with death and has an incredible message of grieving but realizing that life "carries on" and how hard it is to do so. His voice has changed but still gives me chills. Every song here is great. Once again, I can't really pick favorites because he makes it so hard to do so.
