As a budget label release, this is actually a decent summary of Uriah Heep's output from their debut album up to 1985's "Equator". The compilation rightly focuses on the early years the entire first disc and two tracks from the second only taking us as far as the classic "Demons and wizards".

Thereafter we skim across the later releases, with just one track from most of them and significantly none from "Fallen angel", "Conquest" or "Head first". Indeed, the period from 1977's "Innocent victim" to 1985's "Equator" is represented by just two songs. Thankfully, this leave room for inclusions such as the 12 minute "Paradise/The spell" from "Demons and wizards", the 10 minute "July Morning", and the similarly long "The magician's birthday". The result is an accent on the prog side of the band, especially on the first CD.

Those who are less familiar with the work of Uriah Heep and who are looking for a cheap way to whet their appetite would do well to start right here.
