I came across this album last year and went to review it on PA only to find no Cobham...well,here he is now, and deservedly so, one of the best fusion albums, with Cobham unleashed from the constraints of Mahavishnu to do his own thing, which is driving jazz/dance beats. Unlike the other members from the earliest incarnation of MO, Cobham didn't yearn to contribute his composing skills to the band, rather kept it all for his own album - one that shows his truly phenomenal drumming skills, but in a very different setting. Jan Hammer and Tommy Bolin are present and really add a touch of class to the proceedings - all the musicians do, Cobham picked well. Unfortunately some of BC's later forays started to sound, as one professional reviewer put it, a little like listening to the Starsky and Hutch theme tune. But here he's at his very best.
