Phil
5 stars The cast of players on this album really does read like the definitive who's who of jazz/rock from the 1970's; the players went on to feature in (amongst others) Weather Report, Return to Forever, and of course, Mahavishnu - one track even being named after McLaughlin. The best track is perhaps the title track with great wall of improv jazz/funk, punctuated by Miles' distinctive if in truth not particularly virtuosto solos. Although the album has been hyped so much, and referred to as an influence by so many, that you might imagine it's a disappointment, it isn't - it is one of the true great albums that cuts across genres and (largely) stands the test of time.
