4 stars Da Capo was put together by Annie Haslam. It is a 2-CD set with a slip cover sleeve. It has been excellently transferred/mastered by the Repertoire(Hamburg, Germany) label. I would have liked to have seen a two voume, 2-CD set per volume. Their is definitely enough good material from all their albums to justify it (are you folks at Repertoire reading the hint here?). Bob McBeath's review on this site is most interesting, it shows how different people view Renaissance's material. Covering material from 1969 to 1982(?) is quite a swath considering the changes the band went through - I read an interview with John Tout (Keyboards) that they almost gave up just before recording "Ashes are Burning." If you compare this compliation with "Tales of1001 Nights Vol I & II" you get a lot more variety from "Da Capo." If you have not heard Renaissance then get "Tales of 1001 Nights" first. If you know Renaissance and don't have all their albums then give this set a try. I tend to agree with Bob McBeath. All the songs from Renaissance are usually very good to excellent.
