3 stars I loved this album when it was released almost 20 years ago. Today, it seems dated. In hindsight; I am not convinced this is even Death Metal. OK, maybe Death Metal Light. The scene has evolved and become very much more brutal and technical than this album. On Spiritual Healing, we get eight straight forward songs. Not particular brutal and not particular technical. The songs are good. The title track is my favourite, but the rest of the songs are good too. James Murphy's guitars are as good here as on the Obituary's Cause Of Death album. Both these albums launched his career. This album is not particular progressive. It is just eight brutal songs and nothing more. I am happens to like this album, though. James Murphy's guitars and the catchy songs being the reason for that.
