4 stars Hey there, Metallifans! Welcome to their debut! Although I think it's one of their better discs, I cannot, in all fairness, give it five stars. I save those ratings for MASTER OF PUPPETS and METALLICA. But let me mention my faves here. First tune, HIT THE LIGHTS, blazes out of the speakers like a cat with its ass on fire. Throaty vocals, shredding guitars, thudding bass and throbbing drums. Hell of a way to start a record. The tune MOTORBREATH is another blazer too, with some of the fastest rhythm guitar I've heard in a while. ANESTHESIA, a bass solo, grinds out of the speakers with an incredibly DIRTY tone. It rolls around luxuriantly in its own muck for four heart-quickening minutes. If you don't feel your pulse quicken, check yourself; you may already be dead. Now...it DOES contain some filler, like JUMP IN THE FIRE. Good song, but it feels misplaced; like it doesn't belong there. METAL MILITIA is another good one, but it should have been placed earlier in the disc. Even though there are a few mistakes, it still deserves four stars.
