2 stars Best Off.....

I found this LP, including a thick layer of dust, at a friend's flat. I am a fan of FOCUS. I also conscribe to the idea that every prog rock or prog rock related release deserve a review. Just to make ProgArchives complete. Hence these words.

There is nothing on this album which will surprise you. It is as far as I understand only released on LP (MC too ?). Most of this stuff, if not all, is found on other Best Of/Greatest Hits CDs. So no panic, guys. I had one listen to it and I found the sound OK. The songs are wonderful. Songs from the ultimate FOCUS masterpiece Hamburger Concertos are missing. Instead, we get the more rock'n'roll side of FOCUS. Which is OK, but not great. That's minus two stars in my opinion. There is nothing here which should make anyone spend vast sums on Ebay. Just a sort of best off........ and hardly even that. Check the track list and you get my point. But my friend dusted off the LP and will play it on a regular basis. I have both converted an unbeliever and added this album to the ProgArchives list of reviews. Job done.

A standard cash in compilation.
