3 stars I think this is a good album, but not that special.

I certainly like the more accessible songs, but they don't have something which makes me think of it as 'special'. The more experimental parts like 'Pinch' and 'Soup' sometimes even sounds boring and sometimes even annoying. 'Sing Swan Song' is in my opinion the best song on the album and really shows the qualities of the band. The brilliance of this album is that the instruments are rock instruments which sometimes doesn't sound like rock instruments. The keyboardist uses for example very weird sounds here, which are uncatagorizable and the guitar on 'Sing Swan Song' somehow sounds like something like a bagpipe. I do like the vocals of Damo Suzuki at some parts, but at the more experimental parts, I don't like his vocals. In general i find that the shorter songs are better than the longer pieces and most of the time the band's weirdness does seem to be enjoyable. I haven't checked any other recording by this band and therefore I hope this isn't their best record, although most of the time I enjoyed listening to 'Ege Bamyasi'. I have mixed feelings about this album, but still this album deserves three stars.
