4 stars In a short space of time Hourglass have become one of my favourite modern prog bands. Oblivious to the Obvious is the first album I had heard from this band and I got one hell of a surprise. The band can be best described as a mix of Fates Warning, Power of Omens and Enchant. They have a refreshing sound for a prog metal band as they have much more focus on the progressive side rather than the metal side of things. Oblivios is a two disc concept album, so it is a lot to take in. But if you give it your time it is incredibly rewarding. There is absolutley no filler in this album, from beginning to end the quality of music is sustained. Defintely one of the years best in what has been a great year in prog music so far. After hearing this album I checked out the 2 previous album and they are also stunning releases. An amazing band, kicking myself for not having heard of them before.
