4 stars I remember watching 10CC performing ´Donna´on Top Of The Pops. A few weeks later they followed up with `Rubber Bullets´on the same show. At that time my musical attention was devoted to bands like Zeppelin, Purple, Sabbath. Yes and Genesis. However there was something about the four lads from 10CC that I found most interesting. They seemed to have amazing talent, not necessarily through the singles mentioned, which was more pop than rock but to discover the album Sheet Music was one of the best and influential moves I ever made. Not many bands of the day or for that matter any day can write such clever and amusing lyrics as 10CC. I have heard it said that their success was due to the fact that all four members could sing. They could harmonise too, quite brilliantly. They played sheet music from start to end at the old Capital Theatre in Cardiff back in 1974. It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Energetic, vibrant, multi-talented and simply great ideas, from the Wall Street Shuffle to Oh Effendi, there is more music in Sheet Music than a lot of people are aware of. As they themselves wrote: We´re the worst band in the world but our records sell in Zillions. Hat´s off to this one, it is pure talent.
