4 stars In 1978, an OMNI album, not exceptional, but avant-garde, one of those that will get people talking... 1. Moving sound of whales or other... a voice that moves you, beautiful, long before its physical beauty; a piano, a tune and... his voice; pop no it's too intimate, pop art, art rock yes 2. The Saxophone Song arrives and yes they are indeed whales in sequence, it's worth the trip just for that; an Elton JOHN-style tune for the melody, take Alan's sax, yes it was fashionable before the trumpets, violins and other classical instruments which are legion in today's prog; a solo by Alan Parsons, well, beautiful people 3. Strange Phenomena direct piano arpeggio, Kate surfs on it, I'm not a voice but what an organ for this little woman; it seems like mine when I was younger, perhaps that too is what made me listen to this album; short cheerful, fresh 4. Kite stands out with this more rhythmic title, in an art-rock vein, that's for sure; we are far from the typical song, we are dealing with a musical creation with an artistic background developing a personal story delivered to the public, with the original vocal touch 5. The Man With The Child In His Eyes.. yes the clip was talked about in its time, and yet, please, nothing vulgar; the pointe shoes to recall his appetite for classical dance; a bucolic, sensitive and intimate air, 6. Wuthering Heights... that's it, you know everything, its choreography, the piano, the music video, the beauty quite simply, this tune that plays, which takes you back to Beauty... I still shouldn't fall in love with it ; the title that introduced me to Kate and then later Pat BENATAR taken again only 2 years later 7. James And The Cold Gun with the title which makes me say that if it was like that all the time, the record would not have made a splash in my opinion; consensual, well without more yes; you have to wait for the finale with the organ and the progression to tell yourself that there was something to play there 8. Feel It piano of course from the start; arpeggio in battle with voice or how to sink into a bar melody, with subdued green lights, or how to sit down and just listen to your voice 9. Oh To Be In Love continues, a higher range otherwise we are on the same pattern; a little more choir, a more present bass, a chorus worthy of a musical, very British that; years, decades later I understand why this album can still leave its mark... progressive snippets here and there which give a hint about his future career. 10. L'Amour Looks Like Something Like You continues, in fact the titles scroll with an almost perfect and crafted association between a divine piano and a crystalline voice... or the opposite 11. Them Heavy People for the clip yes you have to have seen it, another choreography, one of the singers who came out and thought that the visual should not only be on her plastic; a captivating, catchy chorus, a simple but fresh title; a bit of close combat at the end, I love it... Rolling the ball, Rolling the ball! 12. Room For The Life sounds more solemn with Kate in a more mocking voice, 13. The Kick Inside eponymous title, romantic-melancholic ballad, the piano even stronger in its use, the moment to realize that this album had a prog trace in the rest of the songs and the atmosphere proposed, a good example of creativity in fact, but what a beautiful voice all the same.
