5 stars Inspiring is what comes to mind when i watched this, it's probably one of the performances that made me want to pick up a guitar, and certainly a catalyst in my playing of Pink Floyd. You've got the band all set up in the historic and incredibly atmopheric Pompeii, playing some of their most atmospheric work. Echoes although not literally made for this, was well, made for this. It's amazing that a band who were still almost finding their way could do something lke this with such grace. Sure there's stuff out now like Pulse which cost an absolute fortune and about a trillion people in the road crew or whatever and a stage like a bloody island, and all the other shows they done before then including giant pigs, walls, pyrotechnics etc, but you never fail to be amazed by Pompeii. It's more pure if you know what i mean, before they became legends and utterly rich beyond their dreams.

From the amazing intertwining of Davids guitar work and Ricks keyboards to the intense drumming from Nick, and Rogers harrowing screams in "Careful with that axe Eugene", and all the little interviews in between (very amusing, very insightful). Seeing Gilmour, long hair flowing, guitar licks a-belting, and his tiny effects set up, and Roger smashing lumps out of the gong in "Set the Control for the Heart of the Sun", it's a terrific insight into Pink Floyd almost 40 years ago. It's a relic this, a piece of history. If there's one fault, it's probably some of the animations added. Probably very very modern back almost 40 years ago but pretty dated now. If you can get past that, and you'd be nuts if you couldn't, then it's perfection and purity, and a gem to behold!
