3 stars Psychedelic I think not! I haven't heard handwrists other albums so I can't speak for them but this one really recalls a jazzy vibe over any psychedelic or spacey one. While there are moments of atmosphere building which I consider kind of a cornerstone of psych/space, that can be found in limited dosages, mostly as things like intros. The sound that really comes to mind is Soft Machine or maybe Gilgamesh as the music is not very hectic, rather Amen is quite chill.

Track 1 opens with spacey stuff that doesn't bring me much joy and what follows strikes me as too uninteresting due to unnecessary length. Still, a solid track, just my least favourite of the four.

Track 2 is a welcome improvement over the first song, boasting shorter length, a neat lazy drum pattern towards the begging, good bass throughout and some cool keys.

Track 3 is my favourite of the bunch. It possesses some really lovely e piano, superlative chord play that evokes a lo - Fi jazzy cool. It goes into some ambience for a bit in the middle then comes back for more playing. All in all this one is great and sums up all the good things about this album.

Track four starts with what sounds like a post rock atmosphere that eventually is added too by muffled instruments that recall the delicious Facelift off Soft Machines Third.

Overall this is a solid album with some great moments, particularly for me in the keyboard/bass department.
