EARTHLING

I can imagine Bowie sitting on his own thinking: "Well...I guess I must create an album that appeals to all the youngsters out there that only know me by the single "China Girl" - I must show them that I am a hip dude. Let´s make an album with drum machines and techno rhytms."

The result? Disaster!

No one liked this album as far as I know. Old fans have struggled with his latest albums but in some way they allways found enough interesting material to keep the fire burning. Even if nothing could be compared to his old stuff there was at least one or two songs that made the listening worthwile.

But on Earthling there is no single moment that can be described as "worth listening to". In fact - most of the time I feel that I want to sue DB for steeling precious time from me.

And did he get any new fans? No no no.

It´s unbeliavable that this comes from the same person that created masterpieces like "Hunky Dory" and "The man that fell to earth".

If you put on, for example, "Life on Mars" directly after hearing this album the contrast is so big it that it becomes absurd.

Beware.
