4 stars Emerson, Lake, and Palmer is one of those bands that it is almost impossible to make a "short" collection of hits. Many of there longer, better works just can't be pared down into a singles-type version. (And yet the entire "Tarkus" is here!!! Nice job.). Most of their major, popular short tunes are here, and "Tarkus" and "Trilogy". There are also examples of the individual members works. Basically, this collection seperates some of the wheat from some of the chaff that ELP has produced over the years. MY favorite ELP has always been the more cohesive works rather than some of the longer, rambling, classical works that sometimes bore me. This collection gives a good sampler for the new ELP fan and a good basis to build a collection on. 4 stars. Not perfect, but as good as any ELP greatest hits could get without being multiple CD's long.
