5 stars The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is in my TOP 6 most popular Genesis albums and my TOP 2 from the Peter Gabriel era. Never have Genesis been so eclectic and ambitious to create such a diversified masterpiece. Playing is top-notch, in particular Banks and Collins are in command. Hackett plays not worse but doesn't have the same exposure, unfortunately. Peter Gabriel is the dominating the album and I must say that his sometimes over-theatrical vocal is an acquired taste (I prefer Collins' vocals in general). Fortunately, there are plenty of good instrumental moments and normal Gabriel vocals to compensate.

95% of the material is very strong. To me, the longest tracks are the prime highlights - "In the cage", "The colony of slippermen" followed by instrumental numbers like "Follow the scree". On the second disc, we have 5% of fillers with repeated motives and 2 ambient numbers. For crossover fans, there are also quite accessible tracks like "Carpet crawlers". I rate it with 4.5 star
