5 stars Siren marks the end of era for Roxy Music as in the next three studio releases the band would take on a more sleek sultry pop style that came to full fruition on Avalon. Siren seems to catch Brian Ferry at a fairly turbulent point in his life as the songs follow the theme of love gone bad and also the excesses of the night life he consumed... "Love is the Drug", "She Sells", and "Both Ends Burning" as well as the stunning "Just Another High" all display the demons that were haunting him. Eddie Jobson and Andy Mackay fill this album with intricate horns and keyboard pieces that add depth and a progressive quality that make this a must addition to anyone interested in what 1970's art-glam progressive rock was all about. The album ends with my all time favorite Roxy song "Just Another High" which describes the falling apart of a marriage that supposedly was made in heaven...as Ferry croons "I really blew my cool with you - you just blew out the candle". Classic stuff and great to cry in your beer over...
