4 stars Frank Zappa once pondered - Does Humour Belong In Music?

RITE TIME is one of the funniest records I know of. If you take it seriously you'll miss the whole point.

The lyrics are more important here than the music (a first for this band), and since they were written by a guy with moderately severe mental issues it was bound to be a strange trip. Add in the wacky genius of Czukay and this is a real eye opener.

Consider that this is the same band that did MONSTRE MOVIE and DELAY, and it's no wonder folks are confused. But it makes me imagine what that particular line up would have done around the time of LANDED or OUT OF REACH.

They may have gotten old, and it may be a quirky end to the CAN saga (if indeed it is the end), but I still love this album. OK, the old days can never return, but for the first time in 14 years CAN had something relevant to say. ("We got old and went a bit mad.")
