2 stars Carlos goes horribly wrong.

The beginning of the 1980s witnessed the move into AOR and the quest for radio airplay from all directions. From prog to jazz. Carlos Santana and his band Santana came flying in from the fusion/jazz/latino genre and landed in radio-friendly AOR land with this album. Make that crash landed, to be truthfully.

Inbetween some good guitar solos and some side steps into latino rhythms that proves Carlos Santana was present on this album, we get some dull AOR songs bereft of any originality and quality. What do I remember from this album after been listening to it for some time ? Nothing but the latino inspired guitar solos. I sprinted out to the record shop and bought this cassette when it was released so it sold pretty well back then.

Besides of Carlos guitar solos, there is nothing good to be found on this album. The songs are dull, the cover versions lacking any imagination and the sound is the typical bland radio friendly sound from the 1980s. This is AOR and it is bad AOR too. End of story and good riddance.
