PROLOGUE

"Prologue" opened the beginning to mark II Renaissance and it is among the finest by the band. Annie Haslam's shining soprano vocals are brewed with lots of rich classical piano, acoustic and electric guitars, rhythmic bass, not to mention wonderful backing vocals, to produce a very unique sound.

The haunting title track is an excellent showcase for the whole group and it's sung without lyrics in Haslam's inspiring "vocalese' style, which she also uses on the psychedelic, Indian flavoured song "Rajah Khan".

Everything is the band's own material although some adaptations of classical pieces pop up throughout. "Kiev", "Sounds of the sea" and "Spare Some Love" are the most terrific tracks on this album. In all, Prologue is powerful, romantic and enchanting. This is highly recommended with loads to offer for music lovers. My rating: Four and a half stars!
