3 stars King Eider was project from Holland with only one album and no intentions to do more than that. This according to an interview published 365 days ago, on the 10th September 2010. I am doing this review this morning on this date purely by accident.

King Eider is pretty similar to other projects within the symph prog genre. Not to mention; like other projects from Holland. A lot of soaring guitars aka Camel and some vocals inbetween. The songs here are long, lingering and melodic. The solo guitars here are really good. The vocals are OK. The rest is OK too. Most of the stuff here is electric guitar based. Hence, the comparisson to Camel is very obvious and undeniable.

While the songs are good, the material is a bit anonymous. There is not much spice or moments which makes the listener sits up and take notice. This album works and it has a great song in the title track.

But by all means; this is a good album and well worth checking out.

3 stars
