4 stars Sleepytime Gorilla Museum offer up 7 slices of amazing improv music over THE FACE, Shinichi Momo Koga aka The Last Human Being. Current accompaniment to the band live, and late collaborator with SGM, Shinichi offers close up shadow dance improvisation in the japanese butoh tradition. These players are living their music, in the streets, and immediate. So, definitely NOT for the "progressive standards"crowd, this is ACTUAL creative music in the progressive tradition. So , for those who still appreciate creative music, this blend of American avant metal with hints of a canterbury sensibility will definitely tickle the eardrums.I bought this DVD at their NYC show at Mrcury Lounge in OCT of 05 and it sure was worth the price of three or four beers to me. Authentic, moving, and one of a kind for sure.
