4 stars 10cc albums give something for everyone. Bittersweet lyrics going with stunning arrangements to make wonderful love songs. Witty lyrics and musicianship you can listen to and enjoy. It isn't spontaneous it is meticulously planned music, but it manages to hit all the right spots. Like all great music you can listen to it and hear different things each time. Original Soundtrack is one of the band's greatest achievements. 10cc had already hit their stride before this album, so they deserve credit for stretching the boundaries of their genius even further. You can't help loving "I'm Not In Love" which was one of those chart toppers of high quality, and extraordinary for its time. It has the same effect on listeners today who get lost in the ethereal multi-voice arrangements. As for the ambitious, three-part "Un Nuit A Paris", I read a claim that it even influenced Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" which was recorded several months later. "Life Is A Minestrone" and "The Second Sitting For The Last Supper" also shine with greatness on this album. Each track is quite distinct. Some, such as "Blackmail", are unique. "The film Of My Love" isn't the best loved but the bonus tracks "Channel Swimmer" and "Good News" are rather enjoyable and make up for it. If you want guaranteed quality classic art-rock, this album should do the trick.
