Dan
3 stars FM were one of the best 'unknown' acts. Comprised of Martin Deller (one of the best drummers to ever sit behind a drum set) Cameron Hawkins on bass and keyboards and Nash The Slash (who dressed up on stage like a mummy meets the invisable man) on electric mandolin and violin. Nash left FM after their debut cd BLACK NOISE and was replaced by Ben Mink (who later went on to great acclaim as K.D.Lang's writing partner).

On to Serveillance, this is FM's third release and it's pretty obvious they're missing Nash. Although Ben Mink plays a fine mandolin, he seems to lack the cut throat energy that Nash shows on 'Black Noise'.

In my opinion the best tune on the record is the best cover version of 'Shapes Of Things' I have ever heard, making this worth the price of the record alone.

One can only hope that this record gets re- released on CD.
