3 stars Another Rush single worth grabbing if you see it on vinyl, and on my vinyl splurge at the second hand dealer this was an irresistible find. The owner proudly produced this from behind the glass counter and the price was staggering, but for a collector it had to be part of my growing Rush menagerie. The songs are both from "2112" and perhaps heard too many times for my ears, nevertheless 'Overture' and 'The Temples of Syrinx' are definitely indispensable treasures from that album.

Over 40 years later and these songs will still retain their power to captivate thanks to an almost obsessive conceptual framework on the theme of discovery and enlightenment. Hard prog rockers Rush released in 1976 perhaps their most famous album, and this single was a nice promo to "2112". Incidentally and not coincidentally 'The Temples of Syrinx' clocks out to 2.12. Anyway, it is a collectors item but certainly better than the average when it comes to Rush vinyl singles.
