4 stars One of Hawkwind finest albums and not at all bad. This LP also features both Tim Blake Ex-gong and Crystal Machine and Ginger Baker. Tim adds his wonderful sound to this recording. Sadly I only caught Tim's final gig with Hawkwind and he certainly was not pulling his weight that night why he left is a mystery. Anyway back to this record" Levitation " gets us off to a good start and is followed by one of the best Hawkwind songs ever "motor way city", "Psychosis" may be the weakest track on this side but even that is pretty good. " Prelude" demonstrates why Tim was such an important part of this recording. "Who's gonna win the war " showcases Ginger's Drumming and is a powerful number. "space chase " is also a worthy track. The only track from around this time that could have improved this set would have been "spirt of the age" . As it is this and the Live album of the Tour are a highlight in hawkwinds long run and extensive catalogue. Only" in search of space" and "quark strangeness and charm" come up to the very high standard demonstrated here. With so many Hawkwind records available it really is important to be aware that many of them are not worth owning. This record however is really one of a very few essential Hawkwind records.
